Sydney midfielder Isaac Heeney has claimed his third Goodes-O'Loughlin medal on Friday night, being named best on ground in the Swans Marn Grook clash with Carlton.

Heeney was instrumental in the Swans 16-point victory over Carlton, finishing with game-highs of 38 disposals and 10 clearances, as well as two goals, including the sealer with three minutes remaining.

Formally announced in 2016, the Goodes-O’Loughlin Medal is awarded to the player judged best afield in a tribute to two of the greatest Indigenous players to have graced the AFL arena.

Heeney is the first Swan to win the medal three times, claiming the award in 2018 and 2021.

The 29-year-old collected eight votes from the judging panel to edge out fellow midfielder Chad Warner (seven votes) who was just as influential with 30 disposals and two goals.
