PREMIERSHIP midfielder Craig Bird has agreed to terms with the Sydney Swans that will tie him to the club until the end of 2016.

Hailing from Nelson Bay in NSW, Bird, 25, has played 126 games with the Sydney Swans and has been with the club for seven seasons. He was recruited in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft at pick No.59 as a NSW scholarship holder. He is averaging 21 disposals and five tackles a game in 2014.

The Swans are also close to completing a deal with defender Jeremy Laidler that will extend his tenure until the end of 2016. The former Carlton defender joined the Swans as a delisted free agent for the 2014 season.

Laidler only played one game with Carlton in 2013 but has played 16 games so far with the Swans.
