Sydney Swans stars Lance Franklin, Gary Rohan and Tom Mitchell will be given to Friday to prove their fitness for next Sunday's AFL clash with St Kilda

Franklin (back), Mitchell (eye) and Rohan (knee), all missed the 89-point win over GWS last Saturday, but Swans coach John Longmire said all were coming along well.

"They are at different stages, we expect Franklin and Mitchell to do some training tomorrow and Gary Rohan will run tomorrow," Longmire said.

"Hopefully they will all get to train fully on Friday."

Most pleasing for the Swans coach was the improvement in the eye injured to Tom Mitchell over the weekend with the onballer recovery better than first expected.

“It is probably a little bit more positive about him being a chance to play this week,” he said.

“He is going to see a specialist later this week but he is actually really good today, a lot better than we had anticipated.

“He is a chance to play this week, he has to go through the process of seeing the specialist later in the week to make sure he is all clear and that will happen before Friday’s training session.”

Longmire said Franklin had shown improvement over the last week but would be not taking into Sunday’s clash against the Saints unless he was ready to play.

“He has certainly taken a step forward in his running in the last week and has been doing some training with the balls,” Longmire said.

“He needs to do the training tomorrow and Friday as well.

“That is our plan to make sure he is running around and feeling good about it to be available for selection on Sunday.”
