It was a welcome return to form for the Swans with a nice win over the Crows at the impressive new Adelaide Oval facility.

Following the team’s kick-around at the new stadium on Friday afternoon, they boarded the bus back to their nearby hotel. However, Adelaide’s Friday afternoon peak-hour had been grossly underestimated. Stuck in traffic for a trip that should take no more than a few minutes, many players decided to hit the road and walk it back to the hotel via the new pedestrian footbridge. The scenes were somewhat similar to those infamous pics of players on trams prior to the Swans v Collingwood match in Melbourne last year, where a broken down bus and more Friday night peak-hour traffic saw players make their way to the ‘G any which way they could.

The walk across the footbridge turned out to be a soul searching one for Swans speedster Gary Rohan, after a group of ladies approached him for a photo. A friendly character, Rohan kindly obliged, only to be handed the camera and told “make sure you get the city in the background… thanks!”. Ego dented, he cut a forlorn figure for the remainder of the walk back.

Make sure you get the city in the background, Gaz!

Someone who will be doing a little more walking around will be the unnamed midfielder who mistakenly filled his new (and very, very fine) Volkswagen with unleaded petrol rather than the required diesel. And before people begin to speculate; no, Dan Hannebery was not involved.

Still on the transport theme, and while much is made of the occasionally testy relationship between the media and sporting stars, it certainly is not the case at the Swans. Charged with conducting a press conference in the pouring rain at Bondi last Sunday morning, Jarrad McVeigh scored a lift back home from a friendly Channel 10 cameraman.

The Swans return to the newly renovated SCG on Sunday afternoon to take on North Melbourne in what promises to be a great clash. Swans fans are reminded, that the SCG fashion police will be out in force, with dress regulations in place for fans in the Red Zone, amongst other areas. So leave the thongs and t-shirt at home - you too Goodesy - and make sure you’re wearing a collared shirt and sensible shoes. More info on dress regulations,

Not even the great man will get in on Sunday wearing this

The great Swan Jude Bolton will be honoured prior to Sunday’s match with a lap of honour of the SCG. It is a great opportunity for fans to farewell the champion who played his final match in last year’s preliminary final at Subiaco. It is also gives Snippet’s a chance to run this gratuitous picture of him cycling in his 2005 premiership helmet.

Jude practicing for Sunday's lap of honour, perhaps?

If you haven’t already seen it, take some time to check out American recruit Patty Mitchell’s first goal in the Swans Reserves. It was certainly a case of his teammates enjoying it as much as him, and many took to Twitter to pump up the big man from Iowa’s first snag.

It got Snippet’s thinking about the first goal of fellow international recruit Mike Pyke and how it compared. While we couldn’t dig up his first reserves goal, we did manage to find his first AFL goal, a lovely running effort kicked at the MCG in 2010.
