Six Sydney Swans players polled votes in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award in Saturday night’s 17-point win over Fremantle at the SCG.

As was the case in the previous week’s loss to North Melbourne, it was Ben McGlynn and Josh Kennedy that flew the flag for the Swans and were rewarded by the coaches.

McGlynn was voted as the best player on the ground, receiving nine votes off John Longmire and Ross Lyon for his 24 disposals, ten marks and two goals, and probably more importantly, setting the tone for the team with a game-high and personal career-best 12 tackles.

Josh Kennedy posted the equal third-best disposal count across the league this season, when he collected 38 touches, 21 contested possessions and kicked his first goal of 2014 in the hard-fought win.

Co-captain Jarrad McVeigh (29 disposals, five tackles and two goal assists) and Dane Rampe (22 possessions at 82 per cent accuracy, and eight one-per-centers) registered their first votes of the season, with four and two respectively.

Nick Malceski (three votes) and Lance Franklin (two votes) rounded out the votes for the hosts.

Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe, who has career-high disposals, contested possessions, clearances and tackles in his seven games against the Swans, polled three votes, while David Mundy was the only other Docker to impress the coaches with one vote.
