Sydney Swans midfielder Dan Hannebery is free to face Geelong in the round 11 blockbuster after the AFL's Match Review Panel cleared him of any wrongdoing in a clash with Essendon's Michael Hurley last Friday night.

Following a fumble by Hurley, both players approached the loose ball from opposite directions as contact was made.

It was the Panel's view that Hannebery was contesting the ball and he had no alternative way to contest the ball, and no further action will be taken.

Defender Nick Malceski is also clear to face the Cats after making contact with umpire Troy Pannell in Friday night's game, that saw the umpire stretchered off and subbed out of the game.

It was the view of the panel the collision was accidental.
