Lance Franklin and Dan Hannebery look likely starters for Saturday night’s clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, with the pair both completing training on Tuesday afternoon.

Franklin, who missed Friday night’s win over Essendon with knee soreness, moved freely as he completed marking and kicking drills at the SCG this afternoon, while Hannebery showed no signs of being hampered by his ankle injury as he took part in the full-team session.

Speaking to SwansTV for the HCF Injury Update, club physiotherapist Tim Needham said while both players would need to again prove their fitness in Thursday’s final session, he expected them both to return for this weekend’s round 20 clash with the Power.

“Lance is looking good for this week,” he said.

“He had a bit of a flare up with some knee tendonitis last week, but he’s looking good and he’s going to train and play this week.

“Dan has come a long way since his ankle syndesmosis injury.

“He’s been training really well and we expect him to play this week.

“We just need to get him through training.”

First-year Swan Zak Jones is also likely be available for selection this week, after missing three matches.

“Zak has missed the last few games with an Achilles injury,” Needham said.

“He’s been working on building strength and has been working on his running.

“He’s currently pain-free and has been training, so as with Dan (Hannebery), Zak has just got to get through training this week and we expect him to play.

In other injury news, Tom Mitchell is likely to increase his game time this week after making a successful return through the NEAFL last Friday.

Needham said Mitchell, who has been battling a knee injury, pulled up well from his 40-minute stint for the Swans reserves, and will return to the field this week when the reserves take on the Gold Coast Suns reserves.

“Tommy has pulled up well from the game,” he said.

“We expect him to build his minutes over the next few weeks, so again he’ll play this week in the NEAFL.”
