Sydney Swans fan Kane Oakley has driven away in a brand new Volkswagen after winning the ‘Red, White & You’ competition.

Oakley, whose photo was selected as one of the best from thousands of photos from fans across Australia, battled it out with fellow finalists Chris Moyle, Danny Freeman, Lloyd Jackson and Nellie Cooper in a giant jigsaw puzzle challenge ahead of the Swans clash with Richmond at ANZ Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In front of more than 30,000 fans, each finalist had to grab a football from one end, take a bounce before handballing the ball to their partner and grabbing a piece of the puzzle. The finalists then had to repeat the task four times until they had all four puzzle pieces, and then had to assemble the puzzle.

Oakley, who was flown down from the Gold Coast to take part in the final challenge, was the first to complete the puzzle and was rewarded with a new Volkswagen Tiguan 155TSI.

“I didn’t expect it and I was quite happy to get the trip down to Sydney,” Oakley told sydneyswans.com.au.

“So to win the car, it still hasn’t quite sunk in I don’t think!”

Oakley said he was extremely nervous before the jigsaw puzzle challenge, but was thrilled to be able to drive away in a brand new Volkswagen for his efforts.

“I was really nervous beforehand and was shaking just because I knew I was doing it for the car,” he said.

“Actually getting all the pieces back wasn’t bad, but putting the pieces together quickly was pretty tough and with everyone watching.

“But it came together pretty well in the end!”

Oakley, who had the difficult choice of selecting a Volkswagen Golf GTI, Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet 118TSI, Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen Tiguan 155TSI or Volkswagen Passat Wagon 118TSI as his prize, said the Tiguan was the best choice for his young family.

“We’re going to go for the little Tiguan, the little compact SUV,” he said.

“It should be good because we’ve got a little baby girl, so it should work out well.”
