The Sydney Swans will host North Melbourne in next week’s preliminary final at ANZ Stadium, after the Kangaroos posted a six-point win over Geelong at the MCG on Friday night.

The last time the Swans met North Melbourne was in round four this season, with the Kangaroos running away with a 43-point win in wet and windy conditions at the SCG.

Despite trailing by just one goal at the main break, the Swans were overrun by the Roos, who booted six goals to two in the final term to produce a strong win on the road.

While the loss capped off a poor start to the 2014 season for the Swans, it was also the catalyst for the club’s impressive form turnaround, which saw the Swans win their next 12 consecutive matches.

The Swans and North Melbourne have met just once at ANZ Stadium in the 2008 Elimination Final, which saw the Swans post a 35-point victory, which coincidently was the last time the two sides met in an AFL final.

Tickets for the preliminary final will go on sale this Monday September 15 to Sydney Swans members at 9am, with general public sales from 2pm.
