Sydney Swans dual premiership player Ryan O’Keefe will join premiership winning teammate Lewis Roberts-Thomson in the AFL Grand Final motorcade on Saturday, after officially announcing his retirement from AFL football.

The club paid tribute to O’Keefe’s outstanding career during the Round 23 match against Richmond at ANZ Stadium, and the 33-year old has since decided to call time on his playing career after 286 games with the Swans.

Sydney Swans coach John Longmire said he wished to once again pay tribute to O’Keefe and Roberts-Thomson for their outstanding contributions over a combined period of 28 seasons with the Swans.

“It is fitting that two great premiership players of our Club will be sent off with a lap of honour at the MCG on Grand Final day," he said.

“Both Ryan and Lewis are life members of the Swans and were part of the 2005 and 2012 premiership successes.

“Swans fans have had their chance to thank Ryan and Lewis, and this is another opportunity for all football fans to thank two absolute warriors who always saved their best for September."
