Sydney Swans star forwards Lance Franklin and Kurt Tippett look set to post big pre-seasons, with the pair returning to the club in top shape for the club’s 2015 campaign.

Unlike last season, which saw both players limited in their pre-season preparations, both Franklin and Tippett entered this year’s campaign with no injury concerns, and are due to join the main group early next week for full training.

Speaking to SwansTV following a grueling boxing session on Wednesday, ‘Buddy’ said the pair were both ready to ramp up their training next week ahead of the Christmas break.

“He’s going well the big ‘Tip’,” Franklin said.

“He and I have been spending a little bit of time boxing and in the altitude room, but we’ll be back out training in the next couple of days with the main group, which will be good for the other boys to see.

“We had a nice little break, but it’s always good to get back into it and to see all of the boys and train as hard as we can.”

Despite only taking part in limited team sessions over the last two weeks, Franklin said he felt the entire squad had come back with the right mindset and were keen for another big season in 2015.

“We’ve been back a little over a week and the boys are moving well, I think, and there are a lot of young kids coming through who have really impressed me and a lot of the senior blokes have come back in good form too, so it’s exciting times,” he said.

“I think a lot of the boys have come back in terrific shape, and that’s all you can ask for as a footy club.

“We want to see everyone hit the ground running, and most blokes have.

“We want to get ourselves in the best possible shape as we can heading into round one.”

Franklin, who notched up 22 games in his first year in Sydney, had a stellar season claiming his third Coleman Medal, fifth All-Australian selection, polling in second place in the Brownlow Medal and posting a top-three finish in the Bob Skilton Medal.

Putting individual accolades aside, and with his team’s disappointing finish to the season still lingering in his mind, Franklin said he hoped both he and the team could produce quality football each and every week in 2015.

“I just want to play consistent football,” Buddy said.

“I also think just as a footy club we need to all play consistent football throughout the season, and then play finals football - that’s what we train for at this time of the year, but we’re still a long way away from that.

“We just need to remain consistent and play the best football we can.”
