It has been a dream start to the season for big man Kurt Tippett.

The 27-year-old has featured in the first three rounds of the season, unseen since the forward and now part-time ruckman joined the red and white in 2013.

An injury interrupted start to his time with the Swans has seen Tippett play just 29 games, a tough run which threatened the start of his 2015 campaign.

Thankfully, Tippett overcame a knee injury to play an important role in the Swans’ round one win against Essendon, contesting well in the air as well as kick two final quarter goals which helped level the scores and ultimately win the game.

“It has been fantastic to play from round one and to string as many games as I can together,” he said.

“After a little hiccup in the pre-season… I am looking to play every game.”

A change of scenery has coincided with Tippett’s positive start with the 201cm big man splitting his time between the forward line and number two ruck spot to give Mike Pyke a helping hand.

The move has worked a treat with the apprentice collating 60 hit outs from his first three games of the season.

“It has taken a little bit of getting used to because it is a tough role and I have a great respect for ruckman after going in there for the first there weeks,” Tippett said.

“I am continuing to learn and improve in that role and hopefully I can get better and play both roles for the club this year.

Tippett will face arguably his toughest challenge to date during Saturday night’s clash against Fremantle at Domain Stadium, with All Australian ruckman Aaron Sandilands awaiting the Swans’ newest ruck combination.

The game will also mark the first time Tippett has played on Anzac Day.

“It is going to be a great game, highly anticipated I think and one where we can test ourselves out against the best,” he said.

“Certainly it is a new experience for me to play on ANZAC Day, it is going to be a fantastic game.

“We are really looking forward to going out there and being at our best as a side but also to celebrate the wonderful occasion that is Anzac Day.”

The Swans will travel to Perth on Wednesday to prepare for the top of the table clash against the Dockers.
