A five-goal haul from Sam Naismith helped the Swans record a dominant 68-point win against Gold Coast in Saturday's third round NEAFL clash in Mackay.

While all eyes were on veteran Adam Goodes, who showed glimpses of brilliance in his second consecutive appearance for the side, it was Naismith who stole the show to spearhead the 16.14 (110) to 5.12 (42) at Mackay's highly anticipated Anzac Day fixture at Harrup Park.

Harry Marsh was solid in defence while midfielders Tom Mitchell and Dan Robinson continued their strong starts to the season.

The 353-game Goodes was among the Swans' best and one of 10 players to finished with a major, scoring his only goal in the third term as the Swans established a 54-point lead going into the final break.

In a complete turnaround to the slow start produced against the Giants seven days earlier, the Swans stormed out the blocks to kick six goals to zip in the opening term.

The flurry of goals gave the visitors valuable breathing space against a Suns outfit consisting of AFL-listed Suns Sam Day, Andrew Raines, Danny Stanley, Dan Gorringe and Greg Broughton.

The Swans' intent and purpose never eased for the rest of the match, extending their stranglehold on the game at every change before capping the dominant display with four goals to two in the final term.

"It was a good team effort," Goodes told local newpaper Daily Mercury after the match. "We had to really improve as the Giants played extremely well against us last week.

"We knew it was going to be tough up here with the heat and playing at midday but to our boys' credit all the things we really wanted to work on we really hit and really committed to."

Sean McLaren and Abaina Davis were also considered among the Swans' better players for the afternoon.
