Star midfielder Dan Hannebery continues his surge up the AFL Coaches Association Player of the Year leader board moving into second place in the prestigious award.
Hannebery received nine votes from Saturday’s match against the Western Bulldogs where he collected 37 disposals and 10 tackles in wet conditions at the SCG.
His performance against the Dogs has moved him to 30 votes overall just 12 behind Fremantle star Nat Fyfe on 42.
It has been a sensational start to the season for the All Australian midfielder who is averaging 31 disposals and six tackles from the first five rounds of the season.
Coach John Longmire was full of praise for the 24-year-old after Saturday’s loss to the Bulldogs.
“He has had a consistent year, he hasn’t had too many down weeks and he had a great off-season by getting himself into good condition over the break,” Longmire said.
“He has been consistent every week and he has a good mix of both inside and outside game with the contested possession and uncontested possession.
“Dan is working really hard at the moment.”
Mike Pyke was the only other Swans player to receive votes against the Bulldogs after being handed two votes for his 59-hit out display against the young Dogs ruckman.
