Lance Franklin’s spinning snap on Saturday night has elevated the superstar forward into Goal of the Year territory.

Franklin’s pirouette goal, one of four from the superstar in the Swans’ win against Geelong, has been judged among the best goals from Round 7 alongside fellow nominees Jeremy Cameron (GWS) and Josh Green (Brisbane).

Halfway through the final quarter at ANZ Stadium, Sam Reid booted the ball long to a one-on-one contest between Franklin and Tom Lonergan.

The footy was spoiled but fortunately landed in the path of Franklin who gathered the bouncing ball, blind turned Geelong’s Shannon Motlop, turned onto his favoured left foot and sealed the deal from an acute angle.

The goal, which put the Swans 23 points in front, was Franklin’s first nomination for 2015 and has given the spearhead a chance to win a third Goal of the Year accolade after taking out the ultimate prize in 2010 and 2013.
