The Sydney Swans have made two changes ahead of Friday night’s clash with Richmond.

Mike Pyke has succumbed to a knee complaint and will miss his first match in 14 weeks while Dan Robinson, who has been the senior sub in his past two appearances, has been omitted.

The pair have paved the way for Tom Derickx and Zak Jones to make their first senior appearances in 2015.

Derickx returns for his first game since Round 14, 2014 against his former side in the Tigers.

The 28-year-old has played 12 games over two seasons with the Swans and earned another opportunity at the top level following strong performances in the NEAFL.

Derickx carried the ruck duties in the Swans’ win against Eastlakes with 33 hit outs.

“Both have been very consistent over the first half of the season,” Longmire said in this week’s Centrum Team Selection. “Being senior players we’re particularly confident of having them in the team.”

Jones managed four games in his debut season of AFL football last year and returns to the senior fold in great form.

The 20-year-old’s last AFL match was, ironically enough, against the Tigers in the Round 23 loss at ANZ Stadium.

“Zak has been playing a number of different roles in the NEAFL,” Longmire said.

“We like our senior players to add more flexibility to their games…Zak can play back, play through the midfield and go forward as well.

“He’s a competitor, good decision maker, a good ball user and, before he got injured, can stand up at senior level.”

Longmire is expecting a fired up Richmond outfit who’s “best is as good as any team in the competition” and who would have drawn plenty of confidence from last year’s final round win against the Swans in Sydney.
