Twelve goals to one in the second half has handed Syd Uni an emphatic 75-point victory over the Sydney Swans in Friday night's curtain-raiser at the SCG.

The Swans trailed by only 11 points at half-time but were smashed in the second half on a dewy SCG deck, going down 18.8 (116) to 5.11 (41).

The Swans were outrun, outplayed and overwhelmed by Uni's pressure and end to end run. Any glimpses of a fightback were immediately shut down by arguably the competition's form team.

Injuries to experienced playmakers Craig Bird and Daniel Robinson didn't help the home side's cause with both midfielders going down in the opening quarter leaving two on the bench for most of the match.

With Sam Naismith and James Rose already missing due to injury, Tom Derickx and Zak Jones picked in the senior side and Abe Davis selected as senior emergency, the Swans were left depleted experience-wise.

Brandon Jack (two goals), Jordan Foote and Xavier Richards were shining lights in the loss.

More to come.
