Richmond turned a 32-point half-time deficit into a character-building 18-point win over the Sydney Swans because they simply outworked the home side, according to John Longmire.
The Tigers kicked seven goals to two in the third term, and 11 goals to three after the long break on Friday night to pull off yet another a remarkable victory on the road.
Richmond has now beaten the Brisbane Lions, Port Adelaide, Fremantle and the Swans this year in a golden run of form interstate.
Longmire says the statistics told the story of the night, with the visitors having more possessions, and more importantly contested ball, when the game was up for grabs.
"Our work rate dropped and they lifted their intensity," Longmire said after the game.
"We actually didn't win the ball much ourselves, so we had an extraordinary drop off between the first half and the second half, we just didn't get our hands on the ball, and the opposition did and we didn't stop them."
Richmond kicked bags of goals and the home side simply couldn't halt the Tigers' momentum in the second half, led brilliantly by Jack Riewoldt's six majors.
"They kicked four goals at the start of the third, we kicked the next two, but they kicked the next four after that," Longmire said.
"Teams get momentum and it happens in football every game, all the time. We had it in the first half; they came out and clearly had it in the third.
"It's just the way the game is played, you've got to make sure that when you wrestle the momentum back you then surge again, and we didn't surge again. They did."
A clearly dejected Longmire said his coaching staff have plenty of work to do to get the team back on track for next week's clash with struggling Port Adelaide at the SCG.
"You talk to them after the game but you actually get more out of it on a review basis then straight after a game," Longmire said.
"You very rarely sit there after a game and come up with too many solutions.
"The reality is we've got a six day turnaround, and we come back in here Sunday morning and have to get things going pretty quick before next Thursday night."
