Josh Kennedy’s sparkling performance on Thursday night was recognised and duly rewarded by Swans coach John Longmire and Power coach Ken Hinkley.

Longmire and Hinkley gifted Kennedy 10 votes for the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award.

Kennedy gathered 33 disposals and kicked two goals in the Swans’ 10-point triumph against the Power, in what many described as one of the more complete performances of the season.

The “inside machine” – as teammate Sam Reid described him at recovery – also collected 11 clearances and eight tackles in the gutsy win.

Dan Hannebery, the highest vote getter so far of all the Swans and the closest player to overall leader Nat Fyfe (Fremantle), was rewarded with eight votes for his 34-disposal outing.

Adam Goodes (3 votes), Kieren Jack (3) and Luke Parker (1) rounded out the Swans’ vote getters from Round 14.

Fyfe’s stranglehold over the award has tightened sitting on 100 votes with Hannebery hanging in there on 69.
