The Swans are preparing for a quick but big week on the training track following Sunday's tough encounter against Brisbane, according to star forward Lance Franklin.

It only gets tougher for the Swans who face face a six-day turnaround before a blockbuster Round 16 clash against an in-form Hawthorn at ANZ Stadium.

Franklin, who kicked three goals in the 21-point win over the Lions, said plenty of work was ahead of the side in preparation for Saturday night's bumper clash.

“It was a tough game, we knew they were going to come out and play some tough football and they did," Franklin said post match.

“They played some super football and it probably took us until that last quarter to come out and get the win.

“We have a bit of work to do I think, we have the Hawks next week which will be a big game for us and it is a tough couple of weeks coming.”

Franklin was kept quiet during the first half before turning it on in the second with three important goals and 17 disposals to help seal the win.

Franklin, who is closing in on 700 career goals, had Justin Clarke and Daniel Merrett for company.

“He is hard to move, I thought I had him a couple of times but I wasn’t able to mark the ball," Franklin said if Merrett.

“I will keep working on that at training and hopefully get better at it.”

Franklin lauded the workhorse-like manner of midfielders Josh Kennedy and Dan Hannebery who finished the game with 41 and 34 disposals respectively.

The delivery into the forward line from the duo, among others, allowed Franklin to ultimately make his match-winning impact.

“They are all good – Hanners and Josh Kennedy – the supply coming in is very nice and it is working well at the moment," Franklin added.

“We have a lot of improvement to make driving towards finals so we just have to keep training hard and playing hard to see how we go from there.”

Franklin sits on 698 goals and could reach the 700-goal milestone against his former club in Hawthorn.
