As far as inclusions go, there isn’t much bigger than Adam Goodes.

After a whirlwind couple of weeks, Goodes has been named to take on Geelong at Simonds Stadium following some time away from the Club and football in the wake of the booing controversy which has rocked the dual Brownlow Medallist.

A big in replaces a big out with Goodes’ selection coming at the expense of Lance Franklin who misses due to a recurring back strain.

Goodes made a heavily publicised return to the Club on Tuesday, looking refreshed and recharged ahead of Saturday night’s encounter with the Cats.

Swans coach John Longmire noticed the improvement in Goodes’ demeanour and was looking forward to seeing the Club Champion and three-time All Australian taking that energy with him to Geelong.

“To have Adam back this weekend is fantastic,” Longmire said for Centrum Team Selection.

“He’s been playing some pretty good footy this year, which is the most important thing. For the guys to have a teammate back who they’ve got a lot of care and respect is also fantastic for them.

“It was an easy selection, in the end he felt good coming back from his weekend away and was able to get through training on Thursday so we’re happy to get him back into the team.”

Before Goodes’ week off, the 35-year-old averaged 18 disposals and showed close to his vintage best despite the Swans dropping some form three weeks before last weekend’s win against Adelaide at the SCG.

The Swans are quite foreign to Kardinia Park but nonetheless are aiming to reverse a poor recent record with Longmire’s men winning only one of the past four encounters at the Cattery since 2009.

The Swans defeated Geelong earlier this season by 43 points at the MCG, with Goodes collecting 15 touches and kicking a goal.
