Dan Hannebery is on the verge of stealing the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award.

Hannebery needs just seven votes to steal the award from Fremantle’s Nat Fyfe who has owned the top of the overall leaderboard for a majority of the season.

Hannebery and fellow mid Josh Kennedy received nine votes apiece following the Swans’97-point win against St Kilda.

The duo gathered 39 and 34 disposals respectively and couldn’t be split by coaches John Longmire and Alan Richardson.

The nine votes places Hannebery within striking distance of taking out the coveted award with Fyfe ruled out for the rest of the home and away season with injury.

Another performance like the one produced against the Suns in Round 10 (42 disposals in a best on ground performance) should see Hannebery clinch the prize with the 24-year-old receiving the maximum 10 votes.

The Swans could have two players inside the top three with Kennedy likely to finish third if the ball magnet can put together a 10th consecutive 30+ disposal performance on Saturday night.

The Swans dominated the voting from last weekend’s clash against the Saints with Heath Grundy (six votes), Kurt Tippett (four votes), Tom Mitchell and Dane Rampe (one vote apiece) rounding out the other vote getters.
