Sydney Swans forward Dean Towers will put his speed to the test against the competition’s best during the running of the 13CABS Grand Final Sprint.
The 25-year-old was chosen to don the red and white jumper at the annual event with a series of heats run ahead of the Grand Final to determine a final field.
The do-or-die dash will then be held at the half-time break of the big game between Hawthorn and West Coast in front of more than 95,000 fans at the MCG.
It’s set to be an open field with no previous winners featuring.
Geelong’s Jordan Murdoch won’t be back to defend his 2014 crown after undergoing post-season surgery while three-time champ Patrick Dangerfield is another notable absentee.
Among the 18 representatives from each club, 13CABS drivers Gurdev and Parminder Singh will fly the flag for the taxi-driving fraternity.
Towers, who showcased his athleticism in 11 games this season, is looking to become the first Sydney Swans player to win the event since Jared Crouch back in 2002.
