The Sydney Swans are pleased to announce Rhyce Shaw will remain with the club in an off-field capacity, after accepting a position on the coaching panel for the 2016 season.

Shaw announced his retirement from football earlier this season after 237 games with Collingwood and Sydney but has decided to stay with the Swans.

General Manager of Football Tom Harley said the club was delighted Shaw had decided to take up his new role.

“We are very excited that Rhyce has decided to stay with the club as part of our coaching line up after being an important member of our playing group for the last seven seasons.”

“He has a passion for nurturing and teaching young players which will no doubt make him a valuable addition to our coaching line up for the upcoming season.”

“Along with the addition of Brett Kirk to our coaching group for the 2016 season, we are confident we have added some highly credentialed individuals to our football department.”

The club would like to thank development coach Marty Mattner who will depart the club to return to his home state of South Australia.

“Marty has made a great contribution to our club since joining us as a player and then moving into the coaching ranks,”

“We wish Marty, his wife Chelsea and son Oscar all the best in their return home to South Australia.”

The specifics of the clubs coaching structure will be announced once it is finalised over the off-season.
