The Sydney Swans young brigade will kick off their 2016 pre-season campaign when they return to the track on Monday.

The first to fourth year players will get a head start on their senior teammates who will be back from their break the following week.

Newly appointed Head of Development John Blakey and NEAFL Coach Rhyce Shaw are sure to be interested observers as they look to develop the club’s young talent ahead of the start to the season.

Day one of pre-season training will involve a skills session on Lakeside Oval before the group undergoes a range or medical and conditioning tests with the high performance staff.

It will also be the first opportunity for the younger players to meet newly appointed assistant coach Brett Kirk who returns to the club for the first time since his retirement at the end of the 2010 season.

New recruits Michael Talia, Callum Sinclair and Colin O’Riordan will also have the opportunity to officially meet their new teammates for the first time.

Talia and Sinclair joined the club during the trade period while O’Riordan was recruited as a Category B International Rookie.
