The Sydney Swans welcomed Bernie Evans into the coveted Hall of Fame.

In front of hundreds of guests at The Star's Events Centre, including the entire 2016 playing list and a host of Swans greats, the 1984 Club Champion joined an esteemed list of players during Tuesday night's Guernsey Presentation and Hall of Fame Dinner.

Invited along to the event without any prior knowledge of what was to come, Evans was overwhelmed with emotion shorly before he was presented on stage with former teammates Tony Morwood and Dennis Carroll by his side.

After wiping away tears, Evans spoke of his pride and passion for the Sydney Swans Football Club.

Evans, a South Melbourne supporter as a kid, played 148 games between 1978 to 1985, helping to guide the newly formed Club through an unsteady but significant period in its history.

One of the foundation players at the time of the move to the Harbour City, Evans would feature in the Sydney Swans' first ever game at the SCG and committ to flying back and forth between Melbourne (where work called) and Sydney (where his passion for football remained).

He didn't retire as a Swan but, after tonight, will forever be celebrated and remembered as one.
