Swans Ted Richards and Ben McGlynn are pressing their case for selection for Saturday’s Round 1 blockbuster against Collingwood.

Neither player took part in the NAB Challenge with Richards recovering from a calf injury and McGlynn’s training program being carefully managed.

Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley says while McGlynn has been unlucky with soft tissue injuries in previous years, he’s had a strong pre-season heading into 2016.

“He’s (McGlynn’s) built up considerable minutes in the last couple of months and is training exceptionally well at the moment. He’ll play but it’s still to be decided which level he will play at,” Harley said.

“But as far as his return it’s really imminent and it’s exciting for the group because he’s a really valuable player to us.”

Harley says Richards has “trained the house down” in the past week and is in a similar position to McGlynn in pushing to return this week.

Meanwhile Jarrad McVeigh (knee) and Sam Reid (hamstring) both expect to be back by Round 3.
