Less than a week after Sydney Swans co-captain Kieren Jack put pen to paper, defender Jeremy Laidler has followed suit signing a two-year contract extension.

The new deal will see the 26-year-old remain in red and white until at least the end of 2018.

Originally drafted by Geelong with pick 32 in the 2008 Rookie Draft, Laidler joined the Swans from Carlton as a delisted free agent in 2013. He played 19 games in his first year at the Club and backed it up with 23 the following year, including two finals.

Swans General Manager of Football Tom Harley says it’s great to see the reliable defender extend his stay.

“It’s really exciting to have Jeremy commit to the Swans for a further two seasons,” Harley said.

“It’s a great testament to his resilience; after coming to the club as a delisted free agent he has consolidated his spot in the team.

“Jeremy’s a fantastic person to have around the club. He’s settled really well into life in Sydney and we look forward to him continuing to play an important role in our backline.”

Laidler joins Kieren Jack, Harry Cunningham, Luke Parker and Nick Smith in recommitting to the Swans this season.
