The Sydney Swans have made a late change ahead of Sunday's clash with Brisbane with small defender Nick Smith withdrawn.

The Sydney Swans have made a late change ahead of Sunday's game with Brisbane at The Gabba.

All Australian defender Nick Smith was withdrawn pre-match after suffering knee soreness in the lead up to the Round 6 clash.

Emergency Zak Jones stepped in as his replacement.

Assistant coach Henry Playfair, confirming the news pre-match, said the move was precautionary and Smith should be okay to play next week.

James Rowbottom is set to become the 142nd Swans 100-gamer this Sunday afternoon.
