Has anyone kept track of just how many Goal of the Year nominations Lance Franklin has earned? There would be countless since his 2005 debut.

Franklin has again shot to the top of the tree after his remarkable goal in the third quarter of Saturday’s clash with Essendon was highlighted.

Of his six goals against the Bombers, this was the pick of the bunch. The 197cm, 107kg star forward burst through two tackles before holding his direct opponent at bay with one arm and getting a kick away at goal.

Of course, the ball sailed through.

Franklin’s effort was the first Goal of the Year nomination to come out the Sydney Swans for season 2016.

It follows Mark of the Year nomination wins for Luke Parker and Ted Richards in Round 3 and Round 5 respectively.

It all makes for an impressive highlight reel for the Sydney Swans so far in 2016.

Franklin will be up against some solid competition with Port Adelaide’s Danyle Pearce and Geelong’s Josh Caddy also nominated from the weekend.

To vote for Franklin’s goal, head to the AFL’s Mark of the Year website. By voting you’ll go in the draw for the weekly cash prize of $200 and the major cash prize of $5000 at the end of the season.

Voting closes Thursday, 11.59pm, so get moving! Visit: https://goaloftheyear.afl.com.au/vote/round/7
