The Sydney Swans are set to light it up on the big stage next season following the release of the 2017 AFL fixture.

Eight Friday night games, including the annual Marn Grook at the SCG clash, a huge Thursday night home match against Grand Final opponents the Western Bulldogs, eight games in Victoria and the first Pride Match for premiership points in Sydney are just some of the highlights of the Swans’ draw.

Of the Club’s 11 home matches, six will be against Victorian clubs including Collingwood, Hawthorn, Western Bulldogs, Essendon, St Kilda and Carlton, while the remaining five home games will see the Swans play cross-town rivals GWS, Port Adelaide, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Fremantle.

The Swans are excited to be playing eight games in Victoria – the most the Club has played in Victoria since 1996. Four of those matches will be played at the MCG (Carlton in Round 6, Richmond in Round 13, Melbourne in Round 15 and Hawthorn in Round 19), three at Etihad Stadium (Western Bulldogs in Round 2, North Melbourne in Round 8 and St Kilda in Round 9) and one at Simonds Stadium (Geelong Cats in Round 20).

Other interstate trips include the Swans heading across the country to play West Coast in Round 4 for the first of two Thursday night encounters and to Adelaide in Round 22 to play the Crows.

Swans Chief Executive and Managing Director Andrew Ireland says the Club looks forward to kicking off the season at home in Round 1 in front of a sea of red and white.

“With so many big matches at home and away, including eight Victorian matches, the 2017 fixture is a real win for Swans members, supporters and corporate partners,” Ireland said.

“While these big games are a great result for spectators, from a football perspective the draw always provides plenty of challenges and next season will certainly be no different.

“The Club is proud to again host a celebration of Indigenous culture when we play Hawthorn for Marn Grook at the SCG as part of Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

“The Pride Match at home will be a special occasion for our fans and continues to build on the foundations set this year with the inaugural clash with the Saints.

“We were so fortunate to have a record 56,523 members on board this year, and with all home games now at the SCG and so many matches at our spiritual home in Victoria, the best way to make sure you don’t miss any of the action will be by joining the team as a member.”

All Swans games in 2017 will continue to be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

Sydney Swans 2017 memberships are now available for home matches, while Victorian and interstate memberships will go on sale on 3 November. For more information, including new flexible membership options, please visit membership.sydneyswans.com.au.
