In a huge boost for the Sydney Swans, attacking defender Zak Jones has inked a new deal, signing a two-year contract extension that will see him remain in the red and white until at least the end of 2019.

Jones has had an impressive 2017 campaign, playing 17 games and bringing plenty of dash, skill and aggression to the team.

Recruited with pick 15 in the 2013 AFL Draft from the Dandenong Stingrays, the 22-year-old continues to evolve as a player, influencing games as a rebounding defender and goal-kicking midfielder.

Swans Head of Football Tom Harley says the Club’s rapt to retain the rising star.

“Zak’s game has continued to develop each year he’s been at the Swans,” Harley said.

“This year in particular his game has added another dimension to our team.

“Zak’s commitment is a good endorsement of the environment we try hard to foster here at the Swans and we all look forward to Zak's continued growth as a player and future leader.”

Jones joins Isaac Heeney, Callum Mills, Will Hayward, Oliver Florent, Jordan Dawson, Lewis Melican and Darcy Cameron in recommitting to Sydney in 2017.
