In summation...

In just his second season of football, Mills continued to showcase the traits that won him the AFL Rising Star Award in 2016.

His courage when flying for the football once again shone through while solidifying his role across the half-back line.

During the early part of the season, with a number of senior players in the forward line or out injured, it was the leadership of Mills that came to the forefront as the 20-year-old took it upon himself to take charge.

He exudes a calmness and assuredness with the footy and has formed an important relationship with his fellow defenders in his two seasons at the Club.

His best match of the season came against Essendon in Round 14, Mills collecting 26 disposals and nine marks.

Expect this emerging leader continue his consistency heading into his third season of football in season 2018.

What they said...

“It’s such a different year to your first year, obviously, because you’ve been in the system and have a couple of games under your belt. You’re forever learning, you’re never content with where you’re footy is at, and that’s how I look at it. It was great to play (in defence) again, we have great synergy down there."
