Speedster Zak Jones could be in line to boost the Sydney Swans ahead of their clash against the Western Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

Jones has missed the last fortnight after being a late withdrawal from the Round 2 side that lost to Port Adelaide.

Head of Football Tom Harley said he expects the 23-year-old to return to the side for Saturday’s match against the Dogs.

“Zak is a really important player for us and we are looking forward to him coming back into the side on Saturday,” Harley said.

“We’ve got training on Thursday and all things being equal, Zak will get through that and be available to play.”

Key position players Lewis Melican and Sam Reid will both miss this weekend.

Reid is set for an extended stint on the sidelines after it was revealed he suffered a quad tendon injury in Saturday night’s win over GWS.

The prognosis is more positive for Melican who is expected to miss the next fortnight.

“He (Melican) is not going to play this week, so we will go through all the steps required to get him back as soon as possible,” Harley said.

“We’re saying two weeks, but it could be earlier, or it might be later.

“He has become a very important player for us, so we will be making sure we get him back as soon as possible when he is right.”
