GWS has made three changes to its line-up for Sydney Derby XV at Spotless Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Young stars Daniel Lloyd, Harry Perryman and Jeremy Finlayson will all return to the AFL after Josh Kelly (concussion), Heath Shaw (knee) and Sam Reid (hamstring) succumbed to injury as GWS edged Adelaide last Saturday.

Among a Giants injury list of 16 players are also small forward Toby Greene (hamstring), key forward Jonathon Patton (knee) and midfielder Tom Scully (ankle).

Both camps have been hit hard on the injury front, with Swans defenders Alex Johnson (knee) and Nick Smith (hamstring) replaced by Zak Jones and Dan Robinson for the cross-town clash.

But GWS coach Leon Cameron has quashed all noise around his side’s growing injury list, saying his side is purely focussed on delivering in a high-stakes fixture.

“Spots on the ladder are crucial,” Cameron said.

“Finals spots are up and trying to manoeuvre your way into a spot to participate in the month of September is huge. It’s going to be a great game.”

Giants captain Callan Ward says the Sydney Derby always makes for an entertaining spectacle.

“The rivalry’s built a lot over the last four to five years,” Ward said.

“If I was a fan of the AFL I’d love to watch the Giants play Sydney just because of the way we play and the Swans play. I think it’s a great game to watch. Over the years we’ve had some great battles and there’s no doubt this week will be the same.”

Richmond, West Coast and GWS are the only three clubs certain to play finals football.

The Giants have won nine of their past 10 games and last week clinched a 14-point win over the Crows in Canberra to remain in third on the ladder.

Ward (27 possessions, 16 contested) and hard-running backman Lachie Whitfield (game-high 30 touches) reigned supreme, while five Giants kicked doubles as GWS reached 100 points in consecutive weeks.

The Giants trailed at half-time but piled on nine goals to the Crows’ seven in the second half.

Young gun Jacob Hopper snuck home a goal on the stroke of three-quarter time to help GWS to an 11-point buffer at the final change, before he kicked a second in the dying stages to help the Giants to their fifth win in a row.

They’ve also claimed wins over top-eight sides Collingwood, Hawthorn, Richmond and Port Adelaide in 2018.

The Swans grabbed a 16-point win when the two sides last met at the SCG in Round 3 this season.
