Sydney Swan Sam Reid has undergone surgery following an injury in last weekend’s win over GWS in the Sydney Derby.

Reid suffered a quad tendon injury in the final minutes of the match.

Head of Football Tom Harley says Reid is expected to return to play in 8-10 weeks.

“Sam underwent surgery in Melbourne late Thursday to repair tendon damage in his quad,” Harley said.

“The surgery was decided upon to improve his long-term strength and diminish the chances of any recurring issues post his return.

“Sam will return to Sydney on Friday and we look forward to having him back playing by the middle of the season.”
