A dominant trio have made their return to the Giants team lineup ahead of Sydney Derby XIII.
Steve Johnson, Toby Greene and Zac Williams have all been named following their brief injury setbacks, and may be exactly what the Giants have been missing in recent weeks.
Johnson will make his return to the forward line after missing his fourth game for the season last week with a lingering knee concern.
Himself and Greene, who has missed the past two weeks with an ankle injury, are a huge threat to the Swans on Saturday. The duo kicked a combined six goals against the Swans when they met in round five earlier this year and will be a pair to watch for the unchanged Swans defense.
At the other end of the ground, athletic half-back Zac Williams is expected to have an enormous presence in defense. Williams, who recently re-signed with the Giants for another three years, has an average of 22 disposals so far this season and has recovered well from two-weeks off with a hamstring injury.
Their return comes at a prime time for the Giants who are coming off the back of two draws against Geelong and Hawthorn.
The side has proved strong enough to maintain their second on the ladder position while lacking a number of key players, however stakes are high at the contest on Saturday as finals loom closer and the fight to keep a top eight ladder position tightens.
The greatest challenge for the Giants will come in the midfield, and Brett Kirk Medal winner for Derby XII, Shane Mumford, will have an important role to play.
Fellow midfielder Dylan Shiel says Mumford’s midfield pressure will be pivotal to the Giant’s success.
“Shane’s a massive influence on our football club and particularly our midfield” Shiel said.
“The way he attacks the ball and attacks the man is as good as I’ve ever seen it.
“Definitely will be hoping he’s up and about from the start on Saturday night because his influence is fantastic for us”.
The Swans are coming off the back of 5 straight wins and will be strong contenders for the win with the return of Skipper Josh Kennedy.
Both teams will be sure to come out all guns blazing in the fight reclaim the white ribbon cup.
