The Sydney Swans have taken Volkswagen Swansfit to the city of Sydney over the last week.

Prior to first bounce of our Round 7 match, Swans Friendly Club, the Maroubra Saints took to the SCG to participate in a Volkswagen Swansfit session whilst helping to launch the Volkswagen Grassroots Grants program for the 2017 season.

The Maroubra Saints were one of 10 recipients of a Grassroots Grant in 2016, thanks to Volkswagen.

Maroubra Saints Club President Carl Lee, was also on field on Sunday to speak to the 25,000-strong crowd on the benefits the program has brought the junior club.

“The support from the Swans and Volkswagen has been invaluable to the Club. It’s a $1000 that goes towards equipment and jerseys. A lot of the kids in our Club are from financially struggling families, the money allows us to give them discounts.” – Carl Lee, Maroubra Saints Club President

The Volkswagen Grassroots Grants program is back in 2017, with another $10,000 up for grabs for community AFL Clubs.

As well as the on-field participation, a Volkswagen Swansfit sample session was also available on Driver Avenue for Swans fans to get a feel for what the program can offer, even Rosie the Red Rookie got in on the action.

The Volkswagen Swansfit blitz continued throughout the week with over 600 kids participating in their very first Volkswagen Swansfit session including students from the Inner Sydney Montessori school in Balmain, Forest Lodge Public School, Ferncourt Public School and Sydney French School in Maroubra.

With activities designed to teach primary aged school kids skills such as coordination, flexibility, balance and team work, a Volkswagen Swansfit session is the perfect way to teach students about the important of health and fitness.
