Kurt Tippett is buoyed by the prospect of playing again this season after undergoing surgery on his injured hamstring tendon.

The injury is set to sideline the No. 8 for at least eight weeks, meaning he is a strong chance to return to the senior team late in the home and away season.

Speaking to SwansTV for the first time since the injury, Tippett said he is optimistic about his return.

“The surgery went well, the leg is feeling pretty good and I am two weeks post-surgery now and starting rehab,” he said.

“I have a bit of work ahead of me but I am looking forward to getting back soon. Hopefully I will be back jogging again soon, that would be a good result.”

The 203cm big man was in career-best form to start the season as the No. 1 ruckman, following the retirement of Mike Pyke.

He had played all 12 games before injuring his knee in a ruck contest against GWS Giants ruckman Shane Mumford in Round 13.

Tippet is set to commence his rehabilitation next week as he looks to build up his running to full pace over the course of the next two months.

“I will be doing the hard work to get back as soon as possible and in the best shape that I can be,” he said.

“We are playing good football as a team and I want to be a part of that to contribute.”

Tippett was on hand to surprise long-time Swans fan Judi Partland with a present on Friday morning as she announced her retirement as principal of Gladesville Public School.

Students dressed in red and white for the day to celebrate Mrs Partland’s final day ahead of her surprise visit from one of her favourite Swans.
