Sydney Swans assistant coach Henry Playfair believes recent results count for nothing ahead of Saturday night’s Round 4 clash with Adelaide.

The Swans have won the past four encounters with the Crows; the last three have been decided by comfortable margins (63, 26 and 48 points).

The Swans also go into the Round 4 match with a perfect record at the Adelaide Oval.

They have played at the famous ground three times since it became a permanent venue on the AFL fixture, coming away wins each time.

Only one match has been against the Crows, and that win came early in 2014 when Lance Franklin booted four goals in only his third appearance in the red and white.

This winning streak will mean nothing however, with Playfair wary of an in-form and exciting Adelaide outfit buoyed after impressive back-to-back wins over Port Adelaide and Richmond.

“It’s all square. It doesn’t count for much now. They’re a different team, they have a different coach and it’s a new challenge,” he said.

“I think what you’ve done in the past doesn’t give you the right to win again.

“All we know is that our boys really love playing there. It’s such a great atmosphere.

“We’ll be hopeful that they’re up for the challenge and take it right up to Adelaide.”

Under new coach Don Pyke’s direction, the Crows have turned heads this season with a free-flowing game style involving rapid end-to-end football – and Adelaide’s potent forward line has rewarded it more times than not.

Sitting sixth on the ladder on 2-1, Adelaide poses a serious threat to the Swans’ unbeaten start to the season.

“They’ll take you on both sides of the ball. They’ll attack really hard and they defend really fiercely too,” Playfair added.

“They’ve put together a solid three weeks, knocked off some good teams, and played some good footy.

“I’m sure they’ll be bringing their best for us and we’ve got to expect that.”

One change may be made to the line-up for the trip with co-captain Jarrad McVeigh in the mix for a senior recall after coach John Longmire's hint on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old needs to jump a final hurdle (Thursday’s training session) before a decision is made.
