The Sydney Swans are getting behind The Jodi Lee Foundation for its #iknowsome1 campaign to raise awareness of bowel cancer – Australia’s second biggest cancer killer.

Swans players have rallied to support the #iknowsome1 campaign which will feature on May 16 when the Swans host the Geelong Cats at ANZ Stadium.

Kurt Tippett, Jeremy Laidler, Sam Naismith and Lloyd Perris will be the faces of the campaign which encourages supporters to use #iknowsome1 on social media to raise awareness of bowel cancer.

Founder and CEO of The Jodi Lee Foundation, Nick Lee said bowel cancer is more common than people may think, with an estimated 17,000 Australians expected to be diagnosed this year alone.

“The #iknowsome1 campaign will help build greater awareness of bowel cancer and the importance of early detection using a simple screening test that is done in the privacy of your own home,” Nick said.

“Many people don’t realise that bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related death in Australia and it’s vital we keep it on our health watch list, as we do with other types of cancer,” he said.

Sydney Swans forward Kurt Tippett said the club is proud to partner with The Jodi Lee Foundation and get behind the #iknowsome1 campaign.

“Far too many Australians have been lost to bowel cancer yet it is a disease that can be successfully treated or even prevented with early detection. The #iknowsome1 campaign has the potential to raise much needed awareness in the AFL community and beyond,” Tippett said.

The partnership between The Jodi Lee Foundation and the Sydney Swans emerged through their shared commitment to encourage people to adopt healthy and active lifestyles.

Nick said, “We’re encouraging everyone to support the campaign by posting on Twitter or Instagram using #iknowsome1. Your post will help save lives by raising bowel cancer awareness.

The Jodi Lee Foundation would like to thank the AFL and Sydney Swans for supporting the campaign.
