The Sydney Swans players are currently on a five day mid-season break with a return to training to take place later this week.

After a strong start to the 2015 season the playing group will take some time for rest and recovery over the next couple of days before returning to the club on Thursday.

The Swans currently sit in second position on the ladder with nine wins and two losses

Coach John Longmire said he was pleased with the way his side had started the season but there is still plenty of areas to improve.

“I don’t sit there at the start of the season and have expectations on where we would like to be at the bye,” Longmire said.

“It is more about playing really good strong brand of footy for as long as we can.

“We will have a few days off and the players will really look forward to that but we will assess some things we can do better in the second half of the season.”

Longmire said the evenness of the competition was showcased over the weekend with the bottom placed Gold Coast Suns getting within seven points of the top placed Fremantle Dockers.

“It is a really tough competition at the moment,” he said.

“We have lost two games and so we weren’t too far away in those games but we can always get better.”

“To be sitting here at the half way point with a 9-2 record is not too bad, it could be a lot worse.”
