Dan Robinson’s broken collarbone suffered in Friday’s NEAFL curtain-raiser against Gold Coast is a bitter blow for the up-and-coming midfielder.

Robinson would have been an ideal replacement for the injured Luke Parker had the 21-year-old not gone down with the fracture in the earlier game.

Robinson, who has managed four AFL games since debuting in Round 9, came off a team-high 33 disposals the week before and has been in contention for a senior recall.

General Manager of Football Tom Harley said the setback was a shame for the talented youngster.

“He’s had a good year,” Harley said for the HCF Injury Update.

“He obviously made his AFL debut this season and when he’s played in the NEAFL he’s played at a level that clearly demonstrates to the coaching staff that he’s ready when required.

“And he would have certainly been in the mix…so it’s really unfortunate for Dan but I’ve got now doubt he’ll recover and give himself the best possible chance to get back as quickly as possible.”

George Hewett was another victim of an injury-ridden Friday with the first year recruit suffering concussion from a heavy hit.

The 20-year-old, who has been in great form this season, will miss Saturday’s Round 20 NEAFL clash with UWS Giants.
