In summary:

Speedy defender Ryley Stoddart says he loved his first season in red and white and it’s easy to see why.

The 19-year-old has already received a taste of AFL footy, with the youngster debuting in the win over Brisbane in Round 10 and helping Sydney overcome Carlton in Round 11.

Stoddart kicked a goal on debut and lapped up the elation of an “unbelievable” Gatorade shower in the sheds after the game.

He played an enormous role in the success of the Swans’ NEAFL side in 2018, steadying the ship at half-back as he helped Sydney lock in a grand final berth against the Southport Sharks.

The Eastern Ranges product signed a one-year contract extension early in the season, linking himself with Sydney until at least the end of 2020.

What they said:

Ryley Stoddart

“I loved the season this year. It was a great year on and off the field. On the field there were some great moments, some great highlights, some great wins. I just loved getting to meet and know all the different people involved in the Club, learning about its history and seeing how well bonded the boys are.”

Head of Development John Blakey

“Ryley should be extremely proud of what he achieved this year. To make your senior debut in your first year is an outstanding achievement. We recruited him for his run and bounce and dash and at his best he really showed that he’s capable of doing that. We look forward to getting a really solid pre-season into him and are excited to see what he brings next year.”
