Lance Franklin has moved into the top-ten in the race for the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year award after being awarded nine votes for his four-goal effort in the Sydney Swans’ 11-point win over Richmond at the MCG on Friday night.

Franklin was the clear standout for the Swans, with the forward booting four of the team’s nine goals and also picking up 17 possessions and four tackles, while Richmond’s Dustin Martin (36 touches, four tackles) was also awarded nine votes for his performance.

Josh Kennedy (24 possessions, 12 tackles) and Luke Parker (21 possessions, 11 tackles) were both awarded three votes for their efforts, with Kennedy’s votes helping him maintain equal-second place on the AFL Coaches Association leader board.

Harry Cunningham attracted his second coaches’ vote for the season for his 22-possession performance against the Tigers, while Richmond’s Xavier Ellis (two votes), Trent Cotchin (two votes) and Alex Rance (one vote) were also recognised for their efforts.
