David Ackerly is regarded as the youngest winner of the Swans Club Champion award, prevailing in 1980 when he was just 19 years and 308 days old.

This is using the 30 September each year as the date of record to allow for comparisons, given that precise dates of presentations are not available for each year.

Ackerly, an ever-dependable back pocket specialist, was a product of the old South Melbourne juniors who debuted in 1979 and topped the club’s best player vote-count after just 33 AFL games.

He was 18 days younger than Bob Skilton when Skilton won the award later named in his honour for the first time in 1958.

Ackerly also boasted the seventh-youngest Club Champion win when he backed up in 1982.

Skilton, who was 19 years and 326 days old when he won the award for the first time, is the only other teenage winner. Amazingly, the brilliant rover boasts three of the 17 youngest Swans Club Champion wins.

Third on the youngest winner list is 1948 winner Ron Clegg. He was 20 years and 318 days.

Nine Swans players have been named Club Champion before their 21st birthday, and a further six won before their 22nd birthday. They are:
