The Sydney Swans will join all 18 clubs from across the competition in Melbourne on Monday as talks get underway for the 2018 AFL Trade Period.

Head of Football Tom Harley joined General Manager - Recruiting and List Strategy Kinnear Beatson and the club's wider list management team to begin discussions with clubs right across the competition.

Experienced pair Dan Hannebery and Gary Rohan have requested a trade back to Victoria with the duo set to land at St Kilda and Geelong respectively should a deal be reached.

The Swans have already confirmed an interest in recruiting Melbourne midfielder Aaron Vandenberg and North Melbourne on-baller Ryan Clarke.

Out of contract Swan Nic Newman has already met with North Melbourne as he looks to where his future lies.

Harley said the Club would be active during the upcoming trade period which is set to come to a close on Wednesday, October 17.

“We make no apologies about the fact we want to improve our list with specific needs,” Harley said.

“We want to increase our midfield depth, get some run through there and some really good runners and also some key position players.”

“It is probably the same as most clubs, we think we have a really strong group of players under 23 (years old).

“Midfield depth, speed on the outside and key position players that all come at the right price so we are probably no different to most clubs.”

The Swans have also confirmed they are open to trading their first round selection, pick 12 in the upcoming draft, should the right deal be put on the table.
