Hailing from Victoria, Lewis Melican was rookie-listed by the Sydney Swans in November 2014 and enjoyed a breakthrough 2017 season enroute to winning the club’s Rising Star award. He kept St Kilda great Nick Riewoldt to just 10 possessions and one goal in Round 18 to also claim an AFL Rising Star nomination. After a consistent 2024 season, Melican started his 2025 campaign in similar form before being sidelined for five weeks. He returned to celebrate his 100th career game in Round 23.
