Hailing from Victoria, Sofia Hurley joined the Swans with the club’s second selection in the 2022 AFLW Draft at pick five overall. She enjoyed a particularly strong 2023 season, being named an AFLW Rising Star nominee in Round 8. She also took out the Sydney Swans AFLW Rising Star award and the Club Champion award at the end of the season. A career-best year saw the then 21-year-old win the Swans AFLW Club Champion award in 2024. Hurley was named one of two new vice-captains for the 2026 season.
