Jesse White's four goals was his equal best return in an AFL game, matching his four against Carlton in round 16, 2009. The 25-year-old White, who at 196cm was 11cm taller than his opponent Ricky Petterd, has now kicked eight goals in his past three games. He also combined well with Kurt Tippett, who finished with three goals, in a potent one-two punch in the Swans' forward 50m arc.

As Richmond's best midfielder according to the Official AFL Player Ratings, Brett Deledio was always going to be targeted by the Swans. And so it was, with Craig Bird given the task of minding the star Richmond onballer. The 26-year-old struggled to break free of Bird's outstanding close checking and had just 12 touches, four marks and one clearance to three-quarter time and little influence on the game.

Richmond's spearhead Jack Riewoldt's three goals lifted his season tally to 50, four behind Hawthorn forward Jarryd Roughead and West Coast's Josh Kennedy at the top of the Coleman Medal leaderboard. Riewoldt, who won the award in 2012 and 2010, is aiming to be the first player to win back-to-back Coleman Medals since Fraser Gehrig did it at St Kilda in 2004-2005.

The Swans' win, their fifth on the trot, lifts the defending premiers into third spot with 13 wins, three losses and a draw and moves them a step closer to sealing a top four berth and a double chance in September. The club is half a game ahead of Essendon (fourth) and four points in front of Fremantle (fifth).

Richmond's rise up the ladder has drawn a lot of Tigers fans out of the woodwork as the club makes a run towards its first finals appearance since 2001. Included among those it seems is The Miz from the WWE, who took to the ring with the club's trademark jersey, replete with yellow sash, in a recent "bout". He "won" that match and Richmond will be hoping lightning strikes twice come September.
